It's official. Joel Embiid will not play in Game 1 on Saturday against the Miami Heat, as expected.

Brett Brown confirmed the news on Friday morning on the Dan Patrick Show.

"He will not play in Game 1," Brown said on The Dan Patrick Show. "From that point going forward, we'll figure some stuff out, but unless something remarkable happens I don't plan on him playing in Game 1."

On Wednesday, Embiid admitted he was "unlikely" to play in Game 1.

"I want to play but right now I feel like I'm not ready yet," Embiid said. "It's getting there."

Game 2 is on Monday night, before the series shifts back to Miami for Game 3 on Thursday.

The Sixers are 6.5 point favorites on Saturday even without Embiid.
