Jared Dudley and Ben Simmons have this thing going in between them in the media.

It started when Dudley, before the series began, said, "We will leave (Simmons) wide open, until he proves in this league he can hit shots."

OK, fair enough. Not a huge revelation because everyone knows Simmons doesn't take jump shots, but Dudley's matter-a-fact way of saying it raised some eyebrows.

Then, Simmons had one of the worst game's of his life in Game 1 (9 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds), while Dudley went 0-2 with four points and four assists in 28 minutes in the Nets' upset win. In Game 2, Dudley did not play, while Simmons bounced back with a triple-double and the Sixers won by 22.

Ahead of Thursday's Game 3 in Brooklyn, the 33-year-old veteran said this of Simmons.

"Ben Simmons is a great player in transition," Dudley said. "And once you get him into half court, he's average."

Woah. Again, not totally unfair, but the fact that Dudley is being so honest publicly is kind of shocking.

Simmons responded on Thursday saying, "It's coming from Jared Dudley, come on."
