Magic Johnson caused some commotion before Sunday’s game between the Sixers and Lakers by revealing Ben Simmons would like to meet up with him in the summer to get pointers on being a “big guard.”  This raised eyebrows with many who are skeptical about Simmons getting together with a top executive of an opposing team, even though Johnson is a Hall of Famer.

When Brett Brown was asked about that situation Monday, he directed all matters with that towards General Manager Elton Brand.

“I’m going to leave all that type of stuff with Elton,” Brown said.

Brand took care of it and all indications are Simmons won’t be meeting with Johnson. According to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, a Sixers representative reached out to the Lakers in November per the request of Simmons' brother, as the 6-foot-10 point guard wanted to chat with Johnson about his Hall of Fame career. Brand also, reportedly, apologized to Johnson for insinuating that the Lakers reached out about Simmons, unprompted.

The Sixers general manager told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski there's no problem with Simmons or his agent, Simmons just wanted the Sixers to help arrange a chat with NBA legends and the focus is the postseason.

Meantime, according to Shams Charania, the NBA is looking into whether any rules were violated.
