Avant, who spent eight years in Philadelphia and totaled 116 games with the Birds, will coach the team's wide receiver group.

"I'm so excited and grateful to be here, to help a group of very talented young players," Avant said via the Eagles website. "I was a technical receiver. I wasn't the fastest receiver. I wasn't the biggest guy. I was able to get open by getting off the line of scrimmage and being precise. That's what I hope to help teach these receivers. It's a very talented group."

The group includes older wideouts like Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery as well as a young group led by first round pick Jalen Raegor and a bevy of speedy wideouts drafted in the later rounds.

Avant has stayed around the Eagles organization for the past several years. He helped raise funds for the Eagles Autism Challenge last year, coached with former Eagle running back Corey Clement at a free football camp in New Jersey and has pariticpated in multiple Eagles charity initiatives.
