2 trends that favor Eagles over Cowboys

The Eagles and Dallas Cowboys have won a combined six games heading into their first-place matchup on Sunday. Both teams are playing they best they have all season. That would seem to be bad news for the Eagles, as they have to go on the road against a red-hot team that will have 10 days to prepare.

Two trends, however, lean heavy in the Eagles' favor:

Season series: Beating a team twice in the same season is difficult, especially within the division. That has been true in the Eagles-Cowboys rivarly. Over the last five seasons, the two teams have split the season series, 1-1. In fact, the season series has been split in eight of the last 11 seasons. With the Eagles having lost to the Cowboys earlier this season, the pressure will be on the Cowboys to complete the season sweep and beat the recent history between the two teams.

Eagles in Dallas: An odd trend between the two teams? The road team has been far better than the home team. The road team has won nine of the last 11 games straight up on the road, with the Cowboys winning on six of their eight trips into Philadelphia. The good news for the Eagles is that they have had a ton of success in Dallas recently, going 6-2 in their last eight trips to Jerry World.

Both trends -- the Cowboys having won the first matchup and the game being played in Dallas -- certainly seem to point to an Eagles' win.
