The move many around the league have expected to happen for months is now official — Joe Douglas has left the Eagles and is now the general manager of the New York Jets.

The Jets announced the move on Friday night, less than one week after interviewing Douglas for the position.

Douglas joined the Eagles in May of 2016 and he has played a huge role in the team’s personnel moves over the last three seasons. He can be directly tied to players like Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Howard, both of whom Douglas worked with in Chicago prior to joining the Eagles. It is very possible that Andy Weidel, who has worked with Douglas for years, could be leaving as well.

Now that he is gone, the Eagles will be tasked with finding a replacement. It is possible they promote from within, with Andrew Berry — who they hired as Vice President of Football Operations back in February — as the likely top option.
