Good news for Eagles: Jags sound open to trading Ramsey

The rollercoaster ride that has been Jalen Ramsey’s trade request has taken another turn up — and the chances the ride ends with him not playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to have gone up as well.

Speaking to The Street, Jaguars owner Shahid Khan revealed that not only will Ramsey be playing this week against the New Orleans Saints, but seemed to leave the door open for the possibility of a trade.

“You got to balance what is good for the team with what the individual's wishes might be,” Khan said. “I think we’ll be able to kind of formulate here. I met him a couple of days ago, had a heart-to-heart. I think we will be able to come to whatever makes sense for all.”

Khan was asked about a recent report that the team might not even trade Ramsey for five first-round picks.

“Do you understand value?,” Khan said with a smile. “Ok then I think you already know the answer.”

This latest update is interesting for two reasons.

First, Ramsey playing this week against the New Orleans Saints seems to indicate that he is healthy and that he got good news from the back specialist he saw recently. Not only is this good news for Ramsey, but it is good news for any team that is interested in trading for him, as there appears to be no issue with his back.

Second, Khan’s statements seem to go against what has been reported recently about the Jaguars not being willing to trade Ramsey. Khan could have easily slammed the door on a deal, saying Ramsey is on the Jaguars and they have no intention of trading him. Instead, he said the two sides will come to an agreement that will work for both sides. Unless Ramsey is going to be signing an extension, that certainly indicates that a trade is not only possible, but perhaps likely.

The Eagles have long been rumored to be one of the top teams interested in making a move for Ramsey, considering their need at cornerback and Howie Roseman’s aggressive style as a general manager.

These recent statements by Khan will only add fuel to the fire that Roseman and the Eagles will be trying to make a deal before the deadline at the end of this month.
