The buzz that the Eagles are the team most interested in Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey is only growing.

In a recent interview on ESPN Radio, NFL Insider Chris Mortensen said that although Jaguars owner Shad Khan does not want to trade Ramsey, that could change -- and the Eagles could be there to make a deal if it does.

Mortensen reports (h/t Bleeding Green Nation):

We know that the Philadelphia Eagles and other teams are still highly, highly interested. I think a team like the Eagles, going into last week, were willing to trade a one and a two, but the Jaguars are saying ‘No.’ Will their minds change today? Well that’s why we work.

Although there have been plenty of reports regarding Ramsey, this one might be the clearest sign yet the Eagles have a chance of landing him. Mortensen is one of the top NFL reporters and wouldn't say the Eagles were in on Ramsey if they weren't. If general manager Howie Roseman is indeed trying to land Ramsey, that is a key difference from past players the Eagles were linked to, such as Houston Texans pass rusher Jadaveon Clowney. Roseman never seemed overly interested in making a deal for Clowney -- he appears to be very interested in landing Ramsey.

The Eagles need for Ramsey is obvious. Ramsey is 24-years old and one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. The Eagles have a big need at cornerback right now, considering Jalen Milles, Cre'von LeBlanc, Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones and Avonte Maddox are all currently dealing with injuries. It is possible that the only cornerbacks healthy for their Week 5 matchup with the New York Jets will be Rasul Douglas, Craig James and Orlando Scandrick.

Ramsey would not only help the team this season, however. The Eagles are short on young, elite talent in general, but especially on the defensive side of the ball. Ramsey would be a building block for the franchise on defense, a reality that might make it easier for general manager Howie Roseman to pay the extremely high price it will take to land Ramsey.
