The Sixers season is over, which means it is time for the front office to make tough decisions that will shape what direction this franchise goes in for the forseeable future.

One of those decisions is what to do with free agent guard Jimmy Butler. An Instagram post late Thursday night, however, has some fans wondering if Butler's decision has already been made.

Here is the post from Butler:

to philly. and my teammates. THANK YOU. ❤️❤️

Although it can be read as a simple "thank you" to the fans, many are taking it as a goodbye from Butler. While that is possible, it is very unlikely.

To start, Butler has no incentive to cross the Sixers off his list so early on in the free agency process. The Sixers can offer Butler significantly more than any other team. Cutting them off, and essentially ending his time in Philadelphia via a social media post, would make no sense. If anything, it is possible Butler posted the image and caption to place pressure on the Sixers to increase their offer, hoping to show how much he loves the city and how much the fans want him back.

More than likely, the post was just Butler expressing how much he enjoyed the time he spent in Philadelphia this season.

It is also very possible he will be spending more time in the city, on a new contract, as well.
