The Dallas Cowboys have released wide receiver Dez Bryant.

"As an organization, we hold Dez Bryant in the highest regard, and we are grateful for his passion, spirit and contributions to this team for the past eight years," owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. "He will always be a valued member of our family."

Bryant retweeted this tweet, implying that Bryant will want to stay in the NFC East.

Dallas saves $8 million on their cap by releasing Bryant.

Bryant, 29, caught just 69 balls for 838 yards and six touchdowns last season.
