The Eagles are expected to part ways with offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receivers coach Carson Walch, according to Adam Schefter.

This comes as a surprise after Doug Pederson said yesterday that Walch and Groh would be back.

"My hat goes off to both of those gentleman," Pederson said of Walch and Groh. "For guys to basically come off our practice roster to be elevated to game status, that's not easy to do. And these two gentlemen did an outstanding job. Both will be back."

The Eagles have released a statement from Pederson saying, "After much consideration and discussion, I have decided to make a change at the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach positions." The statement also stated, "I apologize for any confusion I created during yesterday's press conference."

According to Jeff McLane, the decision to part ways with Groh and Walch came from owner Jeffrey Lurie.

Back in December, Chris Mortensen reported that the Eagles are expected to make "significant" coaching staff changes "barring a playoff run," which aligns with McLane's report.

Pederson was also asked about defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz in Wednesday's press conference, who is interviewing for the Cleveland Browns head coaching job. Ironically, Pederson was less firm on Schwartz's return than he was on the return of Groh and Walch.

"I love the fact that guys around the league and teams around the league are looking to me staff for possible head coaching candidates," Pederson said of Schwartz. "I think he would make a tremendous head coach again."

Doug Pederson will join Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Friday, January 10th at 9am.
