Franco, 25, is hitting .421/.500/.789 with a 1.289 OPS with two homers and seven RBI's in 19 at-bats over the last seven days. For the season, Franco has raised his average to .274 and he has a .790 OPS.

Jon Marks opened Wednesday's 94WIP Marks & Reese Show praising Gabe Kapler for his handling of Franco.

"I'm not even gonna try to convince people (to like Kapler)," Marks said. "(Kapler) is good, he's handled this team well.

"Maikel Franco, this is a guy that me personally, I had no expectations for him. Gabe Kapler, and it reminds me a lot of what Charlie Manuel did with Pat Burrell and maybe some other players when they went in slumps, the handling of Franco. Sitting him down for extended periods, moving him to eighth in the order, really managing the player well. And all of the sudden you look up he's hitting over .270, he has 12 home runs, he's got one of the highest OPS' on the team. He has had a very, very good season considering what a lot of people expected and I think you owe a lot of that to the manager."
