The Phillies are red hot, winners of eight of their last 10. They are 51-39 through 90 games, sitting atop the NL East all alone.

Gabe Kapler, who turns 43 on July 31st—the MLB trade deadline—believes he will get a present or two from general manager Matt Klentak.

"My impression is, the answer is yes," Kapler told the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday, when asked if he believes the Phillies will upgrade by the deadline.

"But again, we can work with the players that we have in our clubhouse right now. I believe this team in this room right now can go to the postseason and deep into the postseason. That being said, I have tremendous amount of trust in Matt Klentak in the work that he is doing every single day. We have a phenomenal front office looking under every stone for upgrades. I believe that they will look for ways to put us in our best position to succeed as an organization and I feel strong that we're gonna be good going forward."

Kapler also talked about the Phillies' lone all-star representative, Aaron Nola, who Kapler says has the best curveball in the game.
