Angelo Cataldi

Mon-Fri: 5:30-10AM

Angelo Cataldi has been the anchor of The WIP Morning Show since 1989. Known for his comedic timing, exceptional wit and biting commentary, Angelo is one of Philadelphia’s most popular, entertaining and recognizable radio personalities. Along with co-hosts Al Morganti and Rhea Hughes, Cataldi takes Philadelphians through their weekday morning commute, covering the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, entertainment, pop culture and everything else going on in the world that listeners want to talk about. Cataldi and Morganti created The Wing Bowl in 1993, pitting Philadelphia’s best eaters and most colorful characters against each other in a 30 minute chicken wing eating contest and featuring many ladies from the Philadelphia area as Wingettes. Now held in the Wells Fargo Center, the event typically sells out in just a few days and is always held the Friday prior to the Super Bowl. In addition to Wing Bowl, Cataldi has also hosted yearly contests such as The Miss WIP Pageant and the World’s Largest Bubble Bath. In 1999, Cataldi led a group of Eagles fans up to New York City to the NFL Draft. Cataldi and the fans had been very vocal about the need for the Eagles to draft running back Ricky Williams. When the pick of Donovan McNabb was announced, the Dirty 30 were seen on tv booing loudly. Cataldi was previously a writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and currently writes for the Metro. Cataldi, along with Glen Macnow, authored The Great Philadelphia Sports Debate and has been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes for his sports writing. Cataldi was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2012.
