Kawhi Leonard is looking to team up with Jimmy Butler with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to The Athletic's senior NBA writer Sam Amick

Amick admits there are many scenarios in play with NBA free-agency set to begin at 6pm e.t. on Sunday, but "sources say one in particular looks increasingly possible: Butler teaming up with Leonard on the Clippers."

The other Western Conference team very interested in Butler is the Houston Rockets. Butler is from the Houston suburb Tomball, Texas and has reportedly had conversations with James Harden.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets are actively trying to trade Clint Capela, Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker to teams that have salary cap space, hoping to land a first-round pick (or picks) to help them complete a sign-and-trade with the Sixers. You have to imagine that if the Rockets are willing to trade players that are key to their roster they are pretty confident in what they are hearing about Butler's desire to come to Houston.

Leonard, despite winning a title with the Raptors, is reportedly interested in playing in his hometown of LA. At just 27, Leonard is already a three-time all-star, two-time champion, and two-time Finals MVP.

Butler, 29, is entering his ninth NBA season. Last season, Butler averaged 18.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.8 steals in 55 games after being traded from Minnesota to Philadelphia early in the season. It was the first year since 2013-14 that Butler was not named an all-star.
