Mike Schmidt came in second to Allen Iverson in the 94WIP G.O.A.T. of Broad Street rankings, where fans voted for the greatest Philly athletes of the last 50 years. First of all, it was awesome of Schmidt to come on to discuss the rankings, but Schmidt's response was better than we expected.

"Who the hell was number one? Schmidt asked.

"Well that's great except nobody remembers who is number two," Schmidt said on Thursday's 94WIP Marks & Reese Show. "They have had this vote several times in Philadelphia and I've been number one everytime, so I'm willing to drop down to number two."

"Really? Very interesting," he said when hearing Iverson was the winner. "Who did the voting on this?

Ike Reese informed Schmidt that it was likely due to a lot of the votes coming from the younger fans.

"That's a good reason, but I'm wondering how the 40 and under people would be in touch with Allen Iverson maybe moreso than they might be with the Eagles players now or current Sixers players," said Schmidt. "But whatever! That's fine! I'm happy to at least be considered at #1 and not quite making it. I'm 70 years old guys and everything is good with me."

Reese and Marks then informed Schmidt that most of the 94WIP hosts had Schmidt No. 1.

"See, Ike, that makes me feel great," Schmidt said. "I appreciate it. So, I won the popular vote, but didn't win the election!"

Schmidt also talked about the current state of Major League Baseball, his thoughts on the recent labor negotiations, and the league hopefully resuming this summer.
