New Eagles rookie running back Miles Sanders will miss the mandatory minimcap this week, as he continues to recover from a strained hamstring. Sanders missed the full team Offseason Team Activites (May 21st - June 6th) with the injury.

"I'm still gonna hold (out) Miles this week," Pederson told the media on Tuesday. "Obviously, it hurts a little bit that he's not getting the physical rep, but I don't want to risk him any further. We'll wait until camp to get him out there. He's getting a lot of mental reps. (Running backs coach) Duce (Staley) is grilling him and grilling him in the classroom and he's getting a lot of mental reps on the field."

Sanders' injury was previously classified as "not serious," so this obviously this doesn't seem like a huge deal, but noteworthy nonetheless. The 22-year-old rookie is expected to play a major role in a high powered Eagles offense immediately.

The Eagles selected Sanders in the second round of this year's draft, making him their highest selected running back since LeSean McCoy in 2009.

Sanders, a Pittsburgh native, spent three seasons at Penn State, but he was stuck behind Giants RB Saquon Barkley for the first two. Last season, as a Junior, the 5'11", 210-pound Sanders rushed for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. He also caught 24 balls for 139 yards. Sanders performed well at the NFL Combine, running a 4.49 (81st percentile) 40-yard dash and earning an 11.08 (83rd percentile) agility score.

"I make the argument in some ways (playing behind Barkley) is going to help Miles because he's got a lot less wear and tear on his body," Penn State head coach James Franklin said previously on 94WIP. "He's going to come in with the drive and the hunger."

The Eagles' RB revamped RB room adds Sanders and ex-Bears RB Jordan Howard to Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, and Josh Adams.

Eagles mandatory minicamp goes from June 11th to June 13th. The players are then off until training camp begins in mid July.
