The Nationals have signed all-star pitcher Patrick Corbin to a six-year deal worth more than $126 million, according to multiple reports. The Phillies were one of the top contenders for Corbin.

Corbin, who was an All Star in 2018, finished last season with 3.15 ERA in 33 starts. The left-handed pitcher has an ERA of 3.91 during his six years in the MLB, all of which he has spent with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Corbin visited with the Phillies and the Yankees last week, and New York was reportedly unwilling to offer a sixth year

In addition to Corbin, the Phillies have also been linked to both Bryce Harper and Manny Machado, the top two free agents on the market. Some have speculated that Harper and Machado could both fetch deals close to $300 million in total value.

In terms of pitching, the Phillies will reportedly turn their attention to left-handed starter J.A. Happ. The 36-year-old was drafted in 2004 by the Phillies and spent his first three seasons in Philly.

Washington spending a boatload of money on Corbin may reduce their chances of signing Harper. We can only hope...
