The Phillies' front-office, including John Middleton, will meet with Bryce Harper and agent Scott Boras on Saturday in Las Vegas, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports. Nightengale has consistently stated he believes Harper will become a Phillie, eventually.

The Phils will be the third team that Harper, the league's most coveted free-agent, has spoken directly with this winter. The Dodgers and White Sox are the other two.

The Nationals reportedly offered Harper a 10 year, $300 million contract in September, but that offer is no longer on the table.

Philadelphia, who has met with Manny Machado as well, has already spent $73 million signing free-agents Andrew McCutchen and David Robertson. Middleton has repeatedly made it clear that the team is willing to spend to win.

Harper, 26, is a six-time all-star and is from Las Vegas. He was the 2015 NL MVP and is a career .279/.388/.512 hitting averaging 32 homers and 91 RBI per season.
