According to ESPN NBA reporter Brian Windhorst, NBA teams around the league are discussing the possibility of Joel Embiid being traded.

"One of the conversations people are starting to have in the league is, 'Will they move Embiid? What's the price? Where would he go?,'" Windhorst said on his podcast via Basketball Real GM

"I'm not going to get into that, but my point is people are talking about that. I don't think they would do that without making an adjustment to the head coach," Windhorst continued. "It's such a radical thing, but the fact that we're in mid-February and the people who work in the league, who have to prepare in advance, are mulling over Joel Embiid potentially coming to market, whether that's true or not... I mean, Josh Harris can come on this podcast and deny it if he wants, but the fact people are talking about it, is not good. It's a symptom of where they are."

This report comes a day after the home crowd booed Embiid, who has been struggling of late. Embiid proceeded to hit a big three late in the game to propel Philly to a win over the Bulls and then seemingly telling the fans to shut up. It also comes days after NBA reporter Chris Broussard reported that Embiid and Ben Simmons are jealous of one another.

The NBA trade deadline has already come and gone, but Windhorst is suggesting the possibility of the Sixers trading their franchise player, something that was never even on the table previously, may exist.

Embiid, 25, is currently in the second year of his five-year, $147 million contract. He's set to make $29.5 million, $31.5 million, and $33.6 million in each of the next three seasons, respectively. The three-time all-star center is averaging 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game for his career.

The Sixers have struggled this season, at least compared to expectations. The team is just 33-21, only fifth in the East, and 9-19 on the road. Embiid has already missed 16 games to injury this season, something that has plagued him throughout his career.
