Harding, 34, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 WNBA draft out of Duke. Harding becomes only the second former WNBA player to be hired as a full-time scout with an NBA team. The other is Jenny Boucek of the Dallas Mavericks.

There are now four former women's basketball players — Harding, Boucek, Becky Hammon (Spurs assistant coach) and Natalie Nakase (Clippers assistant coach) — who have successfully made the transition to the NBA.

"I think when you have this goal in mind, your gender shouldn't even matter," Harding told ESPN. "It should be about if you can do it, if you're good, you're experienced, if you know what you're doing and what you're talking about."
